Winter Update

We are just trying to keep warm and are anxiously awaiting Spring. Actually, it has been a fairly mild winter with the exception of the last two weeks. We had bad ice one week and then some slushy snow the next. At least it was enough snow to do a little bit of early morning sledding and make snow cream!

The kids are growing like weeds, as you can imagine. They are sweet as can be but sure do keep us on our toes, especially Emily. She is 27 months today! She goes to preschool two days a week which has been quite a nice break for mommy. Plus, she absolutely loves to go and just adores her teachers, Ms. Angie and Ms. Vivian. She is talking like crazy and sometimes in full sentences. She can say her ABC's (for the most part) and counts to 10! She loves to sing songs that she learns at school  like "Jesus Loves Me" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". She is extremely defiant and dramatic at times. Good thing she is cute!

Jackson sure is getting big. In fact, lately I've been noticing that his pants are all getting too short and his arms growing out of his sleeves! He is going to school 4 days a week and just loves Ms. Szabo and Ms. Blackshaw (who replaced Ms. Campbell last month). Jackson is definitely ready for kindergarten. He is thriving in his class and learning so much this year. He loves building with his Legos and playing with his tool set on his new work bench that him and daddy built together. He finished basketball in January and wants to try tee ball next! He is such a silly, kind hearted little boy. He is pretty good about looking out for his little sister although he certainly has his moments where he loves to push her buttons and just wont leave her alone!

Emily had her two year check up today. She got a clean bill of health, which we are always thankful for! She received one shot which she did well with. She weighed in at 27 lb 11.2 oz (58%). Her height was 2' 10.5 " (68%)

Happy Birthday, Emily!

We now have a big 2 year old in the house! We celebrated the occasion with pizza and cupcakes at home. Bobby, Pa, and great grandma joined us. Emily had a blast opening her presents and especially eating cupcakes.

A weekend in The Swamp......

Now that Jackson is a big 5 year old, we decided it was time to take him to his first Gator football game. Bobby was kind enough to keep Emily so that we could take Jackson on a special road trip. We left Friday morning and arrived in Gainesville with just enough daylight left to stroll through campus on our way to get dinner. After dinner, we made an impromptu decision to go to the basketball game. It was a lot of fun. Jackson seemed to really enjoy just taking in the scenery and shaking the pom pom he got on the way to our seats. The next morning after a quick breakfast we took the hotel shuttle to campus. We walked around taking in all of the action before the game. Uncle Todd came into town and met up with us in the football stadium during the second quarter. After the game we had drinks and later some dinner near our hotel. It was such a fun weekend overall. The Gators won too, so that's a huge plus. Jackson was such a good boy and so fun to be around. It was really nice spending some quality time with just him. When I asked him what his favorite part of the weekend was, he said "the hotel"....Go figure! We cant wait to take him back again next season.

Halloween 2014

As usual, we had a fun time celebrating Halloween. This year, Uncle Ron and Mary were visiting and also took part in the festivities. A few days before Halloween we carved the pumpkins. Lets be honest though, Pa is the one who does all of the work. At least Uncle Ron was here this year to help. He carved a pumpkin too. Jackson had his annual school Halloween parade which was entertaining and oh so cute. Emily wanted to be a part of the parade so bad. She cried so hard that I finally gave in and let her walk along with the other kids. Her class is too young so they don't take part in it. Halloween evening we trick or treated in our neighborhood. The kids did great. Emily was shy at first but soon was running up to doors yelling "trick treat!". She even outlasted Jackson. He ended up riding in her stroller by the end of the night as she walked along. Thankfully, the weather held out. Right as we walked in the door, the sky fell and it rained the rest of the night!

5 Year Check Up

Jackson had his 5 year well check last week. Boy, was I dreading this just as much as he was. His 4 year check up proved to be a nightmare. He was literally kicking and screaming the entire time, even before the shots were brought in. Thankfully with a few pep talks leading up to the visit, he did great! Toby was working and I had no choice but to bring Emily, so grandma came along to help. Jackson requested that she hold his hand during the shots. Luckily he only had to get two shots and a flu mist up his nose. The great news is that he will not require anymore immunizations for 6 years! He weighed in at 36 lb 4 oz (18%) and was 41 inches (22%). He passed his eye (20/30 vision) and ear test with flying colors. The doctor thought he looked great and seems to be right on track with all of his milestones.

Jackson is such a talkative, witty, creative, and sweet boy. We are so thankful to have such an overall great kid. We tell him all of the time what a great boy he is. Of course, he has his moments of crabbiness, not listening, and messing with his sister but overall he is such an easy going kid. He is a pretty picky eater but is getting a little better about trying new things. Things I can never go wrong with are macaroni and cheese (ronin), peanut butter sandwiches, chicken nuggets, and hot dogs. He also really likes yogurt, broccoli and carrots which is great. He loves playing with his Legos and his new "worker man" tools that he got for his birthday. He also likes putting on his "work boots"  and working in the yard with his rake and shovel. He is excelling at riding his bike without training wheels. We have even taken some fairly long rides with him on his own bike!  He loves watching various shows such as Curious George, Thomas the Train, and PAW Patrol. He loves movies even more! One of his favorite things to do is watch Transformers, or any movie for that matter, with his dad. He really enjoys spending the night over at Bobby's and playing on her or grandmas ipad. Some of the cutest things he says: constructions=instructions, patterin=pattern, wilnt=wont. I absolutely love that he wants me to rub his back every night after prayers, then he always says "check on me in one minute". No matter how long I wait to go back in, even if its just 5 minutes, he is always asleep! I could go on and on about all of the cute things he does. I really hope, that even years from now, I will remember the sweet things he does and what he is like at this very moment. If only I could freeze time! We love you to the moon and back, Jackson Reid Timmons!

Bounce House Birthday Party

The Sunday after Jackson's birthday we had his Ninja turtle party. It was at the Siskey YMCA, which is where I work out several times per week. The kids got to bounce in a bounce house that was set up in the gym. Afterwards, we had snacks and cake. It was a very simple yet enjoyable party. We had a good turn out, with about 17 kids and their parents!
