Goodbye NC, Hello FL!

So, a lot has happened since my last post. Toby is full swing into his new job as a clinical specialist at Cambridge Heart, I am in the orientation process of my new gig as a school nurse, and we now live in Naples, Florida. Just thinking about all this makes me tired! These are some of the biggest changes we will ever encounter in our lives ad it seems like they happened in the blink of an eye. Maybe, its because they did happen that fast! About mid July, Toby had gotten things off the ground with his new job and we knew we were officially moving to Florida. We decided to at least start out in Naples because my parents are gracious enough to let us stay in there home here until we sell our Charlotte house. Toby travels all around South FL so we have the luxury to pick the exact spot we would like to live. I saw a posting for a school nurse through Naples Community Hospital. I went ahead and applied, just to see what would happen. Well, at first I got a generic letter back stating that they were not interested in me, then about a week later I got a call that they wanted to interview me afterall. I guess they had changed their minds. We had a trip planned down to Naples to get Toby settled so thats when I had the interview. I got a call that afternoon with an offer. Since it is a job within the school system they need me oriented by the first day of th school year which is August 22nd. My start date was August 8th. That gave me exactly two weeks notice to give my old job. Then it was game on! I tried to take it all in...my wonderful house, my friends, my family, and my job in Charlotte that I love. This blog is meant to be about Jackson and his life, but of course this big move involves him so I had to provide some details on to when and why we moved our family down to Naples, FL. We are slowly and surely getting settled down here. Jackson has only been to the beach once so far but we hope over time it becomes his favorite place to be.

Amongst all the stress that moving brings, we had to find Jackson a daycare, and fast I might add because my start date was so soon. I had gotten a recommendation from a good friend's sister. I checked the place out and really became fond of the staff, facility and especially the center's flexibilty and location. He was supposed to start the 8th but was under the weather and running a fever so he started the next day instead. He attended three 6 hour days for his first week. I was very nervous considering he has never attended daycare and cant even tolerate the church nursery for more than 30 minutes. He ended up doing so well. The first day he walked in so proud with his Elmo backpack on and his red lunchbox in tow. Grandpa Reid aka Pa was in town (he helped us move down over the weekend) so he went with me to drop him off. They said he had a meltdown after we left but a few minutes later he was just fine. The next day he walked right into the building and immediately began playing. I'd say that's a wonderful sign! All the staff at the daycare keep saying how cute he is and that he loves to help clean up. Thats my boy! Each day when I pick him up he waves bye to all of his friends and teachers. I just hope he continues to do this well!
