Today, Jackson and Emily both went for a check up. Emily had her 9 month and Jackson had his 4 year. This is the first time I have ever taken them to the doctor together. They both see the same doctor and we booked back to back appointment times. I had mom come with me just for the extra support. Well, let me just tell you, I'm so thankful that I had her there! Jackson has never had issues with the doctors office in the past but for some reason this time he was not having it. I guess he is just becoming more aware. As we were walking back to the exam room, the nurse asked him to step on the scale and he took off running the other direction. It was all downhill from there! He would not cooperate one bit for the exam or the eye test. He wouldn't talk with the doctor and was acting pretty nasty towards the staff members. I was pretty embarrassed and disappointed that they could not see what a smart, sweet, and witty boy we have. By the time we got to the shots at the very end, I had to hold him down! He had to get two this year with his flu shot via his nostril. Luckily, he doesn't have another well visit with shots for another year.
Emily did well per her usual. She cried a bit for the shots but calmed down quickly with a little bit of TLC. She also had some blood drawn to check her iron and a lead level. She is still too young to really know what is going on. I'm sure she will give me a run for my money one day.
I normally take a picture of Emily on the exam table and had intended to get one of both kids but it was total chaos so I never got a chance. Here are the stats......
Jackson-
Weight: 32 lb 6.4 oz (19%)
Height: 3 ft 3 inches (23%)
Emily-
Weight: 16 lb 8.5 oz (23%)
Height: 27.25 inches (36%)
Head: 17 inches (54%)
Hopefully we don't have to go back to the doctor for any reason until Emily's one year visit. Both kids had their flu shots so maybe that will keep the illness away this Fall and Winter.
